Create Forms by Using the AOT
AX2012 - CU7 enhancement – Ability to email reports to specific people by using tokens
A new feature was added in AX2012 CU7 (and rolled into R3) that allows a user to send emails to a customer and vendors by using an address purpose. For example documents can sent via email automatically to all customers that have the designated purpose set on the account. Prior to CU7, a user had to specify the email address directly in the print management setting separate of the email address on their account.
Example - Scenario – User would like to email Account Statements to customers by an email purpose.
1.) Configure the Customer account statement report to use Print Management
Navigate to: Accounts receivable > Setup > Forms > Forms setup
Click the Print Management button on the General tab
Expand the Customer account statement and click on the Destination “>” Button and choose “Printer setup” to open the Print Destination Settings
On the Print Destination Settings form, select “E-mail”, and add text for Subject line. This text will be used when the email is created.
Then click on the “Edit” button for the “To:” address field
Set the “Customer purpose” field to the purpose you will designate when sending the statements.
Click OK in the Print Destination settings form to save the setup:
2.) Setup the Customer(s) information:
Navigate to: Accounts receivable > Common > All Customers
Edit a Customer(s) record
In the Contact Information tab, select the “More options” button and choose “Advanced”
Create a new record with the following attributes:
Description: Set a Description ID for this contact information
Type: E-mail address
E-mail address: Set the E-mail address that you want the statement sent to
Purpose: Business (The purpose that you designated above)
Close out of all forms
3.) Process the report\statements:
Navigate to: Accounts receivable > Reports > External > Customer account statement
When generating the report/statement, make sure to select the “Use print management” checkbox.
Click OK
The report is generated and is added as an attachment to the email.

Case Study: Create a Serial Product
The Customer Implementation Readiness team at Microsoft validates AX 2012 functionality for specific scenarios. This document is one in a series of blog posts that describe the scenarios that we have validated, and how we validated them.
Scenario
This case study is part of a scenario where we validate end to end serial product tracking from creation of a serial product in AX, purchasing the product, stocking inventory and shipping the product to customer.
Steps in setting up serial product tracking for this case study are as follows:
- Create Serial Product
- Purchase and Receive Serial Product in Inventory
- Sell and Ship the Serial Product
- Return, Repair and Ship the Serial Product
Focus
This document describes the configuration and set up steps for creation of a serial product.

The case study is based on demo data.
Detailed validation steps

Microsoft Dynamics 2012 R2 Purchase Requisition of type Replenishment
A new type of requisition exists: replenishment!
This requisition is supposed to handle cases where I do not ask for permission to buy something but rather enter a request to my manager to get something from a warehouse, so that would be a transfer. This new feature handles that situation nicely, not directly, but using Master Planning. This smart move makes this a flexible feature. Master planning is looking at approved Replenishment requests and will create a planned order. A planned order of any kind, the order type depends on the item. So we can even get a planned production order after an approved replenishment request! I think the most common use of this new feature will be the planned transfer.
How to set up Master Planning for replenishment requisitions
Two things have to be set up on the Master plan: “include requisitions” and “approved requisitions time fence”
Now Master Planning will create a planned order when it sees a demand called “requisition line”, see below. This will be an approved requisition line.
How to create a Replenishment requisition
The requisition purpose can default to “Replenishment” or can be chosen. That is controlled by a policy.
The policy is the requisition purpose rule.
The replenishment control rule is available for this type of requisitions
The only other rule for the replenishment requisition is the category access rule.
Now we are off to the races. Create the Replenishment Requisition and get it approved!
PS For transfers within a site, Master planning is able to firm the planned transfer order to a Transfer journal. This parameter is on the site record.

Comedian Steve Rizzo Kicks off AXUG Summit 2014
“Feeling good is the fuel that drives motivation,” Steve Rizzo shared with the nearly 3,500 Dynamics users and partners attending Summit 2014, “That’s your choice, and that’s your responsibility.”
“No one can do that for you; you have to do it for yourself,” he continued “So I’m asking you to get your shift together. As soon as you open up your eyes [in the morning] focus on all the good. Why? Because this is the stuff that makes you feel good. And feeling good is the fuel that drives motivation.”
Summit attendees gathered bright and early to listen to the comedian & best-selling author’s Opening Keynote of Summit in St. Louis, MO. Steve’s approach to dealing with stress and negativity is to look for the humor in any situation because as he said “humor is everywhere.”
The power of laughter has been instilled in him from a young age. Steve recounted how his father frequently lectured his “Be proud of who you are, where you are from and what you do for a living.
While Steve recognizes that a positive attitude won’t prevent someone from having challenges, his experiences have proven that laughter and a sense of humor help you bounce back from those situations much quicker. Laughter shifts the brain’s focus away from the negative – even if only for a moment. When your thoughts return to the existing situation you’re in control, as opposed to being controlled by the circumstances.
Before sending attendees off to a full day of sessions and networking, Steve challenged them to consciously create the following three habits:
- Begin each day by focusing on what they’re grateful for, what and who you appreciate, and
- Remind yourself that each day is an opportunity to make a difference in someone’s life
- Discover laughter within yourself and in the world around you – it’s everywhere
Prior to welcoming Steve to the main stage, CEO of Dynamic Communities (DCI), Andy Hafer, warmed the crowd – welcoming 47% first time attendees and hundreds of international visitors. Hal Howard, former Corporate VP of R&D for Dynamics ERP at Microsoft joined Andy in his new capacity as Executive Director at DCI. By joining the community, Hal continues his passion for all things Dynamics and makes it clear that even though he’s left Microsoft he hasn’t left the Dynamics users and partners with whom he’s spent his career.
Attendees and those interested can get Steve's book Get Your Shift Together by visiting www.GetYourShiftTogetherBook.com and can sign up for weekly motivational Rizzo-Grams on his website www.steverizzo.com.
