What You Need To Know About MBaaS

Mobile technology has become a fixture in the IT landscape. However, it is still developing and evolving. As a result, new and exciting things are happening in this field frequently. That also means that it can be difficult to keep up with everything going on, and it can be even trickier to determine which developments have staying power and which don’t.

Mobile backend as-a-service (MBaaS), which is also known as backend as-a-service (BaaS) is one of these recent developments that bear watching. It’s a category of cloud computing which enables developers to set up, use and operate a cloud backend system for their mobile, tablet and web applications.

MBaaS evolved from a lack of proper tools for mobile application developers. To create a single web application using the popular Amazon Web Services took too long and was too complicated. Instead of relying on more established Internet as-a-service and platform as-a-service tools, developers focused on creating something that was just for a backend. MBaaS provides an infrastructure which scales. It comes with a set of resources necessary for developers, such as content, data, messaging tools, and third party API services.

Why use MBaaS? It offers a number of benefits to developers. Firstly, it reduces overhead costs. Developers no longer need to utilize a costly system that has more functionality than they require. Secondly, MBaaS makes the mobile application development process more efficient, because developers can deliver the product quickly and in a cost-effective manner. Thirdly, using this software reduces time to market. MBaaS eliminates obstacles in the process of bringing an idea to life, so that the app can make it to the hands of end users quickly. Moreover, this platform optimizes the requisite data for mobile apps, such as geolocation and social media widgets. This ability makes applications more valuable.

In addition to its other advantages, MBaaS enables app delivery with fewer resources – not as many developers are required to work on an application, and it does not need as many IT or data resources. Furthermore, MBaaS optimizes applications for mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets. This platform also has secure and scalable infrastructure, which means that developers do not have to concern themselves with those things and they can focus on developing apps. Finally, a single stack of API resources saves developers’ time, because they no longer waste valuable time hunting down the API resources vital to creating apps.

While the word “mobile” is part of the acronym MBaaS, the use of this platform isn’t restricted to mobile devices. Developers can use it for web development as well. There are fewer interface restrictions with MBaaS; developers have access to a stack of requisite resources to build an app. And aside from networked mobile devices, MBaaS is useful for publishing on tablet readers such as Kindle and Nook. Another use of MBaaS is launching APIs. This platform makes it easy to deploy API frameworks as part of their data and object stores.
